How sweet it is....

February 27th, 2009 at 06:50 am

I JUST paid off 3 credit cards. They were smaller cards and I still have a lot of debt left but AHHHH how sweet it feels to be getting out of debt. This is the best I've felt in a very long time. I'm so excited to snowball those extra payments onto my next credit card. This is a great feeling! I'm so giddy now. Now I get to sit down and do the math, my favorite part. I love seeing how each pay check will be applied to my debt.

I've been working 7 days/week now. Amazing how much money I DON'T spend when I never leave the house. Working from home definately has it's advantages.

I feel so blessed to have a job I LOVE, to make good money and to be at home. Ahhh life is good!

Have a great frugal weekend everyone!!

It's been a while...

February 12th, 2009 at 07:48 am

It's been about a year since I've posted anything here. Since so much in my life has changed (divorce) I chose to wipe the blog clean and start again.

Just like when I quit smoking, I've tried time and time again to get out of debt, only to become frustrated and give up. I'm starting over again and this time I WILL succeed (Positive thoughts, right mom?)

Right now I'm making around $2,270/ month. My minimum credit card payments are $560/month. The basic household bills & expenses average around $663/month.

After paying all the minimums on the cards I am left with about $1,497 monthly. My goal is to put $500 each month into savings and put the remaining $1,297 towards my credit card debt.

I'm feeling quite positive about my repayment of debts. I was divorced in November 2008. I work from home and have 2 kids. It feels good to work towards being debt free. I haven't been using credit cards for at least 6 months. I don't think I'll go into debt again. I've began surrounding myself with like-minded frugal people. This really helps me to save and not spend!
